United Arab Emirates, 23 April 2018, (AETOSWire): With double-digit sales growth in 2017, Phoenix Contact has exceeded the two billion euro mark, achieving a turnover of 2.205 billion euro. At the same time, the number of employees increased to 16,500 personnel worldwide.
"Our growth is sustainable. We have more than tripled our figures over the last 15 years," says CEO Frank Stührenberg. There was strong growth across all world regions and Germany, as the largest single market, headed up the rankings again." Acquisitions also contributed to growth, accounting for one percentage point. Four companies have been taken over in the past year from the field of network control and networking technologies.
The investment in IT infrastructure, machines and systems, as well as buildings, amounted to 180 million euro. A highly-automated production building was established in Poland that has already made flexible production on a single line possible.
In the course of 2018, a budget of 7 percent of turnover is available for research and development, predominantly looking into production technologies for the digital transformation and solutions for the markets of the future: energy, mobility and infrastructure. The investment figure is growing to around 250 million euro. Construction projects are planned for the headquarters in Blomberg, as well as a one hundred per cent expansion of logistics in the USA, which supplies the entire American continent, a second production and logistic site in Nanjing in China, and structural expansion of the subsidiary company Phoenix Contact E-Mobility GmbH at their Scheider site. With a 50% growth in turnover in 2017, they are experiencing a strong period of growth and are preparing themselves for further large growth phases.
At the Hanover Messe, starting on April 23, Phoenix Contact, once again the third largest of the around 6,000 exhibitors, will present itself as a partner company for those looking to take steps in Smart Factory manufacturing. The company will be showing its latest developments across more than 2,700 square meters. In total, Phoenix Contact is to be represented at twelve booths.
