Donating a unit of blood can help save at least three lives
United Arab Emirates, 23 April 2019, (AETOSWire) : Emirates Hospital - Jumeirah (EHJ), an Emirates Healthcare Company and an internationally recognized 100-bed beacon of progress in the region’s healthcare system, in collaboration with Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is encouraging citizens of the UAE to begin Ramadan on a positive note by participating in a blood donation drive. The drive will be held on April 24 at the EHJ facility, from 9am to 2pm and is expected to draw over 150 participants.
“Ramadan is a month of giving, and the drive is an ideal initiative to help those in need. We would therefore encourage all citizens of the UAE to celebrate the spirit of the holy month and be a part of this effort to help make a difference,” said, Dr Maan Jamal, Medical Director of Emirates Hospital – Jumeirah.
Donating blood helps keep the donor’s blood pressure and iron under control and is believed to reduce the risk of cancer. In addition, it lowers stress, improves emotional well-being and eliminates the risk of heart diseases.
The drive will be organized by members and technicians from DHA’s Latifa Hospital and EHJ’s staff.
Every three seconds, a patient is in need of blood. Emirates Hospital - Jumeirah encourages all healthy individuals to donate blood to help facilitate a healthy living community.
