Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 10, 2019 –(AETOSWire) : Acronis, a global leader in cyber protection, urges companies in the Gulf Cooperation Council region to prioritize data safety and security, through investing in cyber protection solution, in the wake of heightened cyber security threats.
Numerous reports continue to paint a grim picture of how hackers are increasingly targeting some ill-prepared companies in the Middle East.
The global cyber protection leader is focusing on the region’s sports industry, among others, which it says faces imminent cyber threats that can ultimately paralyze teams and adversely affect their results.
“We have identified a serious gap in the region’s sports industry in terms of cyber protection. That is part of the reason why we are in the UAE through GITEX Technology Week to further seek partnerships with the various sports teams to offer our expertise in cyber protection,” said Islam Shaker, Channel Manager Middle East.
According to a report released during a cyber-security seminar held in South Africa in April this year, the UAE was reportedly hit by over one million phishing attacks during the first quarter of 2019 alone.
Over 52,000 mobile malware attacks were also reported in the same period - registering a 20 percent increase compared to the same period in 2018.
Speaking to Information Technology executives who discussed with the cyber protection experts at their stand at the just concluded GITEX Technology Week, Shaker, expressed his concerns over the rate at which companies in the region are being affected by cyber-attacks.
“The statistics of how the region is being affected by cyber-attacks are shocking. These threats are on the rise mainly due to the unpreparedness and lack of investment in cyber protection by most companies or sport teams. Organizations need to urgently prioritize cyber protection through integration of anti-cyber-attack systems so as to protect their valuable data and to also ensure their operations are not disrupted,” said Shaker.
Acronis’ cyber protection solutions hit their mark by addressing the Five Vectors of Cyber Protection—safety, accessibility, privacy, authenticity, and security (SAPAS). This approach puts Acronis solution users in the unique and advantageous position of having data that is not only secure, but also easily accessible and recoverable.
Founded in Singapore in 2003 and incorporated in Switzerland in 2008, Acronis is the official cyber protection and backup partner for close to 40 sports teams worldwide including high profile teams from Formula E and Formula 1. The company just received a US$147 million funding round by Goldman Sachs to expand its operations globally and hit the Unicorn status with a valuation boosted to US$1 billion.
Expanding Vision of Cyber Protection
Taking place October 13-16, 2019 at Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami, Acronis Global Cyber Summit will be the largest gathering of developers, vendors, resellers, service providers, and enterprise IT professionals, who are looking to network, learn, and share knowledge in the combined vision for the future of cyber protection.
