Emirate of Ajman and Umm Al-Quwain may be tiny compared to the rest of United Arab Emirates, but it does have a some great sights to see and enjoy. You should definitely keep Ajman on your itinerary list.

Though these places aren’t known quite as well as places like Downtown Dubai, or other tourist destinations of UAE, they’re interesting nonetheless. From business attractions, just like business bay, and other sun-filled holiday attractions, Ajman has some crazy nice places.

Here are some great places to visit when in Ajman:

Ajman Museum

Ajman Museum is an 18 th century fortress that was used as the first line of defense. You’ll find exhibits that are focused on the local lifestyle, along with dioramas of a daily life. There are also some exquisite archeological sites near the museum. In the museum, there is a display of Emirati weapons.

Since this building was a stronghold of the city, it was also used as the ruler’s palace and later became a city police station. The prominent features of the fort are the two wind towers, two watchtowers, and the grand gateway fronted with two cannons.

Ajman Dhow Building Yard

Dhow Yard is at the north creek of Ajman. It’s considered the world’s largest dhow building center. This makes it quite an interesting attraction of the city. What’re dhows? These are built using traditional tools and manual skills. This is all done without blueprints. The skill is passed down through generations.

Dhow Yard in Ajman has speedsters that participate in the Dubai Powerboat meets. At one time, around 20 to 30 boats are built. So if you’re getting interested in this craft, then you should definitely make a visit here.

Ajman Beaches

Ajman’s coastline is lined with luxurious hotels with private patches of immaculate white sand. Downtown Dubai and business bay are nothing compared to Ajman beaches. They are considered the prettiest among all the beaches in UAE. If you’re looking for some serious sun bathing, and some relaxation with the sand, this is a place to be. Tourists or non-guests can use the beach and use the facilities of the hotels by paying day-pass fee. No one can beat the Ajman beaches!

Mowaihat

This archeological site is located at the outskirts of Ajman. Discovered in 1986, a circular Umm Al-Nar type tomb was unearthed. Once the excavation began, several Umm Al-Nar ceramic vessels were discovered along with 3000 beads, two stamp seals, several copper implements, and remains of about a dozen people. This was the first evidence of Northern Emirates being occupied.

Ajman City Center

Ajman is quite a sleepy place in comparison to the rest of UAE. The city is divided in two because of the creek. This gives the city a pleasant shore-side boardwalk that leads to the fine white beaches. All the amazing archeological discoveries led to the deduction that the city was an important Bronze Age settlement. The city reaches the mountain villages of Manama, and Masfut. Both that are beautiful and worth the visit.

Seneyah Island

These islands are just offshore from Umm Al-Quwain city. The island is surrounded by Mangrove forests and it’s an important place for the migratory birds. Also the largest island group, it makes escape to nature an entrancing and worth it. So if you’re in the mood to relax with the nature, you should head out here!

This was just a glimpse of some places that are worth the trip to Ajman. Though not as bolstering as the rest of UAE, places in Ajman offer a relaxing and quiet adventures to you. Do check them out!
