Importance of Durood Ibrahim in the Quran

Allah Himself commands believers to send blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the Holy Quran:

“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.”
— Surah Al-Ahzab (33:56)

This verse highlights the importance of Durood in the life of a Muslim. It is a direct command from Allah to show love and respect to the Prophet (PBUH), and by doing so, we receive immense mercy and forgiveness from our Creator.

Hadith on the Virtues of Reciting Durood Ibrahim

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the virtues of sending Durood upon him. In one hadith, he said:
“Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold, erase ten sins, and raise him by ten degrees.”
— Sunan an-Nasa’i

Additionally, the Prophet (PBUH) mentioned:
“The closest of people to me on the Day of Resurrection will be those who send the most blessings upon me.”
— Jami’ at-Tirmidhi

This hadith shows that frequent recitation of Durood Ibrahim not only brings blessings in this world but also ensures closeness to the Prophet (PBUH) on the Day of Judgment, which is a great honor for any believer.
