In the presence of HE Khalifa Aldrai
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (AETOSWire) : Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah, an Emirates Healthcare Company and an internationally recognized 100-bed beacon of progress in the region’s healthcare system, has announced the launch of eight specialized clinics created to diagnose and treat specific ailments that are common to the community. In the presence of His Excellency Khalifa Hassan Aldrai, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, and the hospital’s senior management, the clinics were inaugurated on March 2nd, 2019.
His Excellency acknowledged Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah for this initiative, stressing the need for focused treatments for common medical issues. “It is very impressive that Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah has taken the lead by conducting an independent survey to identify the most common ailments and needs. This will lead to the provision of targeted medical solutions, and we hope that other hospitals and clinics will follow suit”, he said.
Aldrai added, “Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah has been consistent in its efforts to enhance healthcare in the country, particularly following the agreement of cooperation signed to help transfer patients to the nearest hospitals, provide immediate and superior services with best available methods of treatment and reduce the time it takes transferring patient to far places.”
In the Dubai Health Investment Guide 2019, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) outlined its 2016-2021 strategy, which includes the implementation of Centers of Excellence in response to ‘the high demand for specialized and tertiary care for selected high prevalent diseases’. In support of this initiative and in response to the increasing number of patients with common medical concerns, Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah decided to create 19 Centers of Excellence.
According to a study by DHA, the number of outpatients visiting health facilities increased by 6 percent between 2012 and 2017. This number is expected to grow by 2025, when the population is projected to exceed 4.2 million. Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah is expanding its facilities to support the increasing demand for healthcare and reduce the number of unnecessary visits to the Emergency Department. Eight clinics will be fully operational starting this month, and each clinic will diagnose and treat a specific issue.
Based on the findings of Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah’s survey, over 150,000 patients visited the facility till date to seek treatment for specific ailments including asthma, back pain, chest pain, joint pain, diabetes or high-risk pregnancy or for vaccinations or issues related to newborns and more.
“It is a great pleasure to launch our specialized clinics in line with Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah’s vision to provide our patients with preventive care. We are confident this is consistent with the community’s growing medical needs and that it will promote healthy living. Our hospital is equipped with diagnostic and therapeutic services required to address advanced medical conditions and offer a wide range of patient care”, said Dr Maan Jamal, Medical Director of Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah.
It will now be faster for patients with common ailments to locate the right clinic. The eight clinics are staffed by expert physicians, nurses and support personnel who are trained in specific sub-specialties, and call center employees have been trained to minimize the amount of time needed to identify the ailment and appropriate clinic.
Emirates Hospital plans to launch additional clinics in the near future.
