Virtual sessions and valuable prizes for participants
Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, October 27 2020, (AETOSWire): The annual Sharjah Ladies Run is going virtual this year, in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and the need for social distancing. Now in its seventh edition, this year’s run includes virtual training sessions through the Sharjah Ladies Club’s Instagram account and website. The virtual run aims to encourage UAE residents and their families to take part and run for a good cause, to highlight the importance of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.
Between November 26th and 28th, runners can take part in the virtual run in three different categories - 5km and 10km along with 2.5km family-run category, aiming to get parents, kids, and friends involved in this unique event. The participants who have completed the race and shared their results, will enter a raffle draw to win valuable prizes presented by Sharjah Ladies Club and the sponsors of the virtual run.
The participants must register through the SLC app, and can choose their preferred location, as long as they choose a day to complete the required distance within the three-day window. Sharjah Ladies Club has listed a number of recommended running sites, including areas around Sharjah Emirate and the Fitness 180 Center at SLC.
Participants are being encouraged to prepare for the event with the help of the SLC Run manual available on the events page of Sharjah Ladies Club’s website. This manual will give participants an opportunity to acquire tips on nutrition and training to boost their speed and stamina before the run begins.
Speaking ahead of the Sharjah Ladies Virtual Run, the Club’s Director General, Mrs. Khawla Al Serkal, said: “Despite the circumstances, Sharjah Ladies Club is committed to hosting community events as safely as possible, while encouraging people to stay active. This year, we want to see the whole family get involved, which is why we have introduced the new Family Run category, which in line with the vision of Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah Ladies club, to promote healthier lifestyles in the widespread community. “
