SEOUL, South Korea — The World Smart City Expo 2022, the largest ever in its history, will be held from August 31 to September 2 with 300 cities and businesses from 20 countries participating at KINTEX 1, Goyang City in South Korea.

Under the slogan “Digital Earth, Connecting Together,” the World Smart City Expo 2022 (WSCE 2022) explores the main themes of carbon neutrality, sustainable mobility, and urban resilience.

Six thematic exhibition zones will be featured: Future City Zone, Urban Resilience Zone, Carbon Neutrality Zone, and Smart Mobility Zone.

At the National Pilot Smart City Pavilion, visitors can preview innovative technologies that will unfold in everyday life. In addition, visitors can experience Smart services and products from many cities around the world.

Jason Schenker, who has been ranked the #1 forecaster in the world by Bloomberg News, is to have a special talk themed "The role of smart cities and the direction to be taken in the era of great digital transformation" with Won-jae Lee, 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport after his keynote speech on future technologies and smart cities.

18 conferences covering the latest topics in the urban field, such as digital transformation, metaverse, ESG management, green energy, and living labs, will be held with the participation of leading industry, academia, and research experts from around the world.

Chris Sheldrick, founder of What3Words, who created a three-word address system, and Professor Alex Edmans of London Business School who emphasized corporate social contribution at the Davos Economic Forum will share their profound insights into urban problems and the future direction of smart cities.

The WSCE Awards have selected innovative companies and cities that contributed to the advancement of smart cities. The winners were given benefits that included the exhibition of their works, an interview on WSCE ON-AIR, and an invitation to 'WSCE Networking Night'.
